On Sunday afternoon, September 17, Vic Vickery (N3DFS) EC of Greene County hosted the second monthly meeting of District 03 ARES leadership. Others attending were Bill Phillips (AD6JV) EC of Charlottesville/Albemarle County, Manny Rodriquez (K4MSR) EC of Fluvanna County, Dave Damon (K4DND) DEC, Gordon Winn (WW4GW) EC of Buckingham County, and Tim Miller (KG4HOT) EC of Nelson County.
The group met in the Red Cross office in Stanardsville, and a number of general topics relevant to ARES operations both within and across the District were discussed. Then the main business of the meeting, which was to familiarize the collective leadership with Greene County, was presented by N3DFS. Vic discussed the client agencies present in Greene, what resources are available to him as EC, and what his experience has been during past activations in the County.
The meeting then moved to the site of the Greene County EOC where a spirited discussion provided Vic with a number of possibilities for mounting an amateur radio antenna for use during EOC activation.
The next meeting is tentatively scheduled for Sunday, October 29 and will be hosted by AD6JV in Charlottesville.
