ARES VA SEC Vision Statement

ARES needs to increase its membership, and reconstruct its infrastructure and chain of command. As it is now, everything in ARES must go through the SEC. That’s going to change. Power and authority are going to be decentralized. Assistant SECs will be overseeing and supervising deployment of operators during communications emergency for their assigned geographical area. They will guide and consult with DECs to see that the ECs find the best training routes for their members. To help in this effort, DECs will be sending their monthly reports to the Assistant SEC in change of their geographical area. The ASEC will then forward the monthly on to the SEC.

I will be looking into the possibility of liability insurance for ARES members. If we are able to attain this insurance, government and non-profit served agencies will feel more secure with our presence and our members will be able to rest assured of not losing their homes or savings in some lawsuit that the Good Samaritan Act may not cover.

In short, I plan to serve only one or two years, trying to assure ARES members that their time, treasure, and talent will not be wasted and that we will be there---when all else fails.
